Why Yoga is so important to fitness

Since started doing Yoga, I've seen my overall balance, strength, and fitness has improved. I am calmer and things doesn't bother me as much. Don't get me wrong, I am not the flexible guru by no means, but each time I do Yoga, I'm able to twist and stretch in areas that would have been impossible for me to do few months ago.
